The world has a loud opinion on sexuality, marriage, and the choices we make with our thoughts and bodies. As believers, it’s imperative that we look to Scripture for our standard. Our goal is to partner with parents by having honest, Scripture-driven conversations with teenagers about how the Bible addresses these important topics. To give you an idea of what will be discussed this weekend, here are our main topics:
  • Session 1: God created sexuality as a good gift, but it only flourishes when lived according to His design. Purity is not restriction; it is protection and purpose.
  • Session 2: Purity is a battle between the flesh and the Spirit. What you feed grows. What you starve dies.
  • Session 3: Purity is not about perfection. It is about redemption. Jesus restores, forgives, and empowers us to walk in freedom.

If you are a parent of a teen, please know this: This event is not about shaming your child or making them feel uncomfortable through explicit content or examples. Our team greatly desires to provide a Biblical foundation and understanding of sexuality. The frightening reality is that our culture bombards our children with false and unhealthy expectations and views toward sex and its purpose. We want to empower and encourage students and their families to purposefully and joyfully live according to God’s standard in these areas.

Where & When: Students and their parents will meet at FBC Maypearl at 6:00pm on Friday, October 23. We will enjoy a meal together, and then we will have two separate meetings (one with parents, and one with students) to discuss our topics for the weekend and address any questions. Afterwards, we will take our students to Campfire Creek Therapeutic Riding Center in Waxahachie, where some church members have graciously provided their property as a meeting space for our group. Students will spend the night at this venue, and we will return to FBC by 8:00pm on Saturday, October 24.

What: During our time together, we’ll have 3 main sessions with the entire group. We will also have guy and girl breakout sessions to further discuss these topics. The rest of our time will include meals and times of fellowship with one another.
